Associated British Ports first acquired the 11-ha terminal in 2002 and has since invested in numerous expansion and optimisation programmes, which has seen operational capacity treble and efficencies increase. Subsequently the continued service improvements and sustained performance has been recognised by multiple awards over the years. ABP are dedicated to ongoing investment into equipment, people and facility enhancements will further see Hams Hall grow alongside our customers.
Alastair Welch - Regional Director, Southampton
Alastair Welch joined ABP as Regional Director for the Southampton Region in May 2016. Prior to joining ABP Alastair spent much of his career in the aviation industry and has worked at a number of the UK’s key airports, including London’s Heathrow, Stansted and Southend. Alastair’s degree in mechanical engineering, along with his accountancy experience, enabled him to support airlines and airports worldwide in strategy formulation, business and performance development and restructuring.
Craig Barbour - General Manager, Southampton
Craig is originally from Liverpool and joined ABP in June 2015. He has held a number of senior operational & engineering positions within the Humber, leading ABP’s largest operation prior to moving to Southampton. Previous to joining ABP he held various senior operational positions within other major ports groups: Peel Ports and the Port of Tyne, and holds a degree in Port Management. Craig is responsible for the safe, efficient and service focused day to day delivery of maintenance, asset management, planning and operations across Southampton and Hams Hall.
Lee Armstrong - Head of Commerical (Rail)
Lee Armstrong has worked in the Railway Industry for over thirty four years, working for British Rail, DB Cargo, GB Railfreight where he was the Commercial Director and now in role for ABP as the Head of Group Commercial for Rail. Lee has over twenty years Management experience in operational and commercial roles, where he has been successful in delivering excellent customer service, ensuring costs are controlled and winning new business.
